The present invention concerns a novel member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family of cytokines. In particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the endokine alpha protein. Endokine alpha polypeptides are also provided, as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. Antibodies and antibody fragments which specifically bind the polypeptides of the invention are also provided, as well as methods for detecting the polypeptides of the invention using said antibodies and antibody fragments. Also provided are diagnostic and therapeutic methods concerning TNF family-related disorders.

Die anwesende Erfindung betrifft ein Romanmitglied der Familie des Tumornekrose-Faktors (TNF) von cytokines. Insbesondere werden die lokalisierten Nukleinsäuremoleküle das endokine Alphaprotein kodierend zur Verfügung gestellt. Endokine Alphapolypeptide werden auch zur Verfügung gestellt, wie Vektoren, Wirtszellen und recombinant Methoden für das Produzieren dasselbe. Antikörper und Antikörperfragmente, die spezifisch die Polypeptide der Erfindung binden, werden auch, sowie Methoden für das Ermitteln der Polypeptide der Erfindung mit besagten Antikörpern und Antikörperfragmenten zur Verfügung gestellt. Auch gestellt die Diagnose- und therapeutischen Methoden hinsichtlich sind TNF der Familie-in Verbindung stehenden Störungen zur Verfügung.
