Method for the direct reduction of mineral iron inside a vertical reduction furnace (10) of the type with a gravitational load, wherein the reducing gas flows in counter-flow with respect to the material introduced into the furnace, comprising the following steps: the mineral iron is fed from above into the furnace (10), a mixture of high temperature gas consisting of reducing gas based on H.sub.2 and CO is injected, and the reduced mineral is removed from the furnace (10). The mixture of gas is introduced into at least a zone (14) of the furnace (10) and consists of the process gas, which emerges from the same furnace, and of additional gas arriving from an outside reforming circuit.

Método para a redução direta do ferro mineral dentro de uma fornalha de redução vertical (10) do tipo com uma carga gravitacional, wherein o gás se reduzindo flui no counter-flow com respeito ao material introduzido na fornalha, compreendendo as seguintes etapas: o ferro mineral é alimentado de acima na fornalha (10), uma mistura do gás elevado da temperatura que consiste em reduzir o gás baseado em H.sub.2 e o CO é injetado, e o mineral reduzido é removido da fornalha (10). A mistura do gás é introduzida ao menos em uma zona (14) da fornalha (10) e consiste no gás process, que emerge da mesma fornalha, e do gás adicional que chega de uma parte externa que reforma o circuito.
