The present invention is directed to a method for treating dermal atrophy of the skin. The method of the invention includes applying a composition to the skin of a mammal suffering from dermal atrophy of the skin, and comprising at least one thyroid hormone compound or thyroid hormone-like compound together with a pharmacologically acceptable base suitable for topical application, wherein the thyroid hormone compound or the thyroid hormone-like compound binds to TR-.alpha. or TR-.beta. with an equilibrium dissociation constant, K.sub.d, of at least 10.sup.-5 M. The invention is also directed to an article of manufacture comprising packaging material and a pharmaceutical agent contained within the packaging material, wherein the pharmaceutical agent is therapeutically effective for treating dermal atrophy of the skin.

De onderhavige uitvinding wordt geleid aan een methode om huidatrophy van de huid te behandelen. De methode van de uitvinding omvat het aanbrengen van een samenstelling op de huid van een zoogdier dat aan huidatrophy van de huid lijdt, en minstens uit één samenstelling van het schildklierhormoon of schildklier hormoon-als samenstelling samen met een farmacologisch aanvaardbare basis geschikt voor actuele toepassing bestaat, waarin de samenstelling van het schildklierhormoon of de schildklier hormoon-als samenstelling aan RT-.alpha. of RT-.beta. met een constante van de evenwichtsscheiding, K.sub.d, van minstens 10.sup.-5 M binden. De uitvinding wordt ook geleid aan een artikel van vervaardiging bestaand uit verpakkend materiaal en een farmaceutische agent bevat binnen het verpakkende materiaal, waarin de farmaceutische agent therapeutisch efficiënt is om huidatrophy van de huid te behandelen.
