The invention relates to the use of cyclopentane heptan(ene)oic acid,
2-thiocarbamoyloxy and carbamoyloxy as therapeutic agents e.g. as ocular
hypotensives. The compounds used in accordance with the invention are
represented by the following formula I:

wherein a wavy segments indicate either the alpha (.alpha.) or beta
(.beta.) configuration; the dashed bond represents a double bond or a
single bond; Ar is selected from the group consisting of aryl or
heteroaryl radicals having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms and substituted
derivatives of said aryl and heteroaryl radicals; n is 0 or an integer of
from 1 to 4; x and y are 1 or 0, provided that when x is 1, y is 0 and
when x is 0, y is 1; R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical or a
substituted lower alkyl radical having up to six carbon atoms; X is
selected from the group consisting of --OR.sup.1 and --N(R.sup.1).sub.2 ;
Y is .dbd.O or represents 2 hydrogen radicals, and the 9 and/or 11 esters
thereof and/or the pharmaceutically acceptable salts of said compounds
and/or esters.
L'invention concerne l'utilisation de l'acide heptan(ene)oic de cyclopentane, du 2-thiocarbamoyloxy et de carbamoyloxy en tant qu'agents thérapeutiques par exemple en tant que hypotensives oculaires. Les composés utilisés selon l'invention sont représentés par la formule suivante I : ## du ## STR1 où les segments onduleux indiquent l'un ou l'autre l'alpha (alpha.) ou bêta (beta.) configuration ; l'obligation à tiret représente une double obligation ou une obligation simple ; Ar est choisi dans le groupe les radicaux d'aryle ou de heteroaryl ayant de 4 à 10 atomes de carbone et les dérivés substitués de lesdits radicaux d'aryle et de heteroaryl ; n est 0 ou un nombre entier de de 1 à 4 ; X et y sont 1 ou 0, à condition que quand x est 1, y soit 0 et quand x est 0, y est 1 ; R.sup.1 est hydrogène ou un radical alkylique substitué radical ou inférieur alkylique inférieur ayant jusqu'à six atomes de carbone ; X est choisi dans le groupe -- OR.sup.1 et -- N(R.sup.1).sub.2 ; Y est dbd.O ou représente 2 radicaux d'hydrogène, et les 9 et/ou 11 esters en et/ou les sels pharmaceutiquement acceptables de lesdits composés et/ou esters.
