An electrolyte composition comprising a compound represented by the following general formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R represents a substituent containing a --(CR.sub.1 R.sub.2 --CR.sub.3 R.sub.4 --O).sub.n -- bond (in which R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 are independently a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, n being an integer of 2 to 20); Q represents an atomic group forming an aromatic cation having a 5- or 6-membered ring structure with a nitrogen atom, which may have a substituent; and X.sup.- represents an anion. A photoelectric conversion device comprising the electrolyte composition and a photo-electrochemical cell composed thereof are also provided.

Una composizione nell'elettrolito che contiene un residuo rappresentato dalla seguente formula generale (1): ## del ## STR1 in cui la R rappresenta un sostituente che contiene la a -- (CR.sub.1 R.sub.2 -- CR.sub.3 R.sub.4 -- O).sub.n -- legame (in quale R.sub.1 a R.sub.4 sono indipendentemente un atomo dell'idrogeno o un gruppo alchile, n che è un numero intero di 2 - 20); La Q rappresenta un gruppo atomico che forma un catione aromatico che ha una struttura dell'anello 6-membered o di 5 con un atomo dell'azoto, che può avere un sostituente; e X.sup. - rappresenta un anione. Un dispositivo fotoelettrico di conversione che contengono la composizione nell'elettrolito e una cellula foto-elettrochimica composta di ciò inoltre sono forniti.
