A process for the abatement of trimethylvinylsilane (TMVS) by contacting a gas stream containing TMVS with copper(II) oxide (CuO) and/or manganese oxide (MnO.sub.2) in the presence of sufficient oxygen to prevent reduction of the oxides and at a temperature of at least room temperature, but preferably, at an elevated temperature greater than 100.degree. C.

Un processo per la riduzione di trimethylvinylsilane (TMVS) mettendosi in contatto con un flusso del gas che contiene TMVS con l'ossido del copper(II) (CuO) e/o l'ossido del manganese (MnO.sub.2) in presenza dell'ossigeno sufficiente per impedire riduzione degli ossidi e ad una temperatura almeno della temperatura ambiente, ma preferibilmente, ad una temperatura elevata più grande di 100.degree. C.
