An improved process is disclosed for the selective transalkylation of toluene and, optionally, of C.sub.9 aromatics. The process preferably uses a bound sulfated zirconia catalyst to provide improved selectivity for the production of xylenes.

Een beter proces wordt onthuld voor selectieve transalkylation van tolueen en, naar keuze, van aromaten C.sub.9. Het proces gebruikt bij voorkeur een verbindende gesulfateerde zirconiakatalysator om betere selectiviteit voor de productie van xyleen te verstrekken.
