Process for the preparation of .epsilon.-caprolactam, in which in a step
(a) a compound with the general formula:
O=CH--(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --C(O)--R (1)
in which R is --OH, --NH.sub.2 or O--R', in which R' is an organic group
with 1 to 10 carbon atoms, is contacted with ammonia and hydrogen in a
suitable solvent at elevated pressure in the presence of a hydrogenation
catalyst to a mixture of primary amino compounds and
.epsilon.-caprolactam, followed by a separate second step (b) in which the
primary amino compounds are reacted to .epsilon.-caprolactam, wherein the
solvent in step (a) is an aqueous medium, including water, the yield to
.epsilon.-caprolactam in step (a) is more than 10%, calculated on the
initial molar amount of the compound according to formula (1), that
.epsilon.-caprolactam is separated from the aqueous mixture obtained in
step (a) by extraction and that the aqueous mixture resulting from the
extraction, containing the primary amino compounds, is used in step (b).
Proces voor de voorbereiding van epsilon.-caprolactam, waarin in een stap (a) een samenstelling met de algemene formule: O=CH -- (CH.sub.2).sub.4 -- C(O) -- R (1) waarin R -OH, -- NH.sub.2 of OF ' is, waarin R ' een organische groep met 1 tot 10 koolstofatomen is, met ammoniak en waterstof in een geschikt oplosmiddel bij opgeheven druk in aanwezigheid van een hydrogeneringskatalysator aan een mengsel van primaire aminosamenstellingen gecontacteerd en epsilon.-caprolactam, dat door een afzonderlijke tweede stap (b) wordt gevolgd waarin de primaire aminosamenstellingen aan epsilon.-caprolactam worden gereageerd, waarin het oplosmiddel in stap (a) waterige milieu, met inbegrip van water, de opbrengst aan is het epsilon.-caprolactam in stap (a) is meer dan 10%, berekend op het aanvankelijke maalbedrag van de samenstelling volgens formule (1), dat het epsilon.-caprolactam is gescheiden van het waterige mengsel dat in stap (a) door extractie wordt verkregen en dat het waterige mengsel dat uit de extractie voortvloeit, die de primaire aminosamenstellingen bevat, in stap (b) wordt gebruikt.
