The protective eyewear, which includes side-protective shields, is fabricated from lightweight, transparent impact-resistant material. The corrective lenses are incorporated in the lower portion of the shield, thereby leaving the upper, larger portion of the shield uncorrected and thus available for viewing distant objects. The corrective lenses provide a focal length within a range commonly associated with reading glasses.
