A detergent composition comprising sodium citrate and an organo monophosphonic acid or a salt thereof of formula I ##STR1## where n is an integer from 0 to 6 and X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 are independently selected from an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or carboxy group with the proviso that at least one of X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 is a carboxy group.

Een detergent samenstelling die natrium uit citraat en een organo monophosphonic zuur of een zout daarvan van formule I ## STR1 ## bestaat waar n een geheel van 0 tot 6 en X.sub.1 is wordt, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 onafhankelijk geselecteerd uit een alkyl, alkenyl, aryl of carboxygroep op voorwaarde dat minstens één van X.sub.1, X.sub.2, X.sub.3 een carboxygroep is.
