A surfactant for forming stable dispersions of rosin esters compatible with elastomeric latexes, the surfactant having the formula R.sup.1 --R.sup.2 --R.sup.3. R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 are each rosin (i.e., rosin, rosin dimer or a mixture of rosin and rosin dimer). R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol-R.sup.4 -polyethylene glycol wherein R.sup.4 is rosin (i.e., rosin, rosin dimer or a mixture of rosin and rosin dimer). The surfactant is prepared by esterifying the rosin material with polyethylene glycol.

Un agent tensio-actif pour former les dispersions stables des esters de colophane compatibles avec les latex élastomères, l'agent tensio-actif ayant la formule R.sup.1 -- R.sup.2 -- R.sup.3. R.sup.1 et R.sup.3 sont chaque colophane (c.-à-d., colophane, dimère de colophane ou un mélange de colophane et de dimère de colophane). R.sup.2 est choisi dans le groupe le polyéthylène glycol et le polyéthylène glycol-R.sup.4 - polyéthylène glycol où R.sup.4 est la colophane (c.-à-d., colophane, dimère de colophane ou un mélange de colophane et de dimère de colophane). L'agent tensio-actif est préparé en estérifiant le matériel de colophane avec le polyéthylène glycol.
