The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a tertiary perester by contacting an acyl compound with a tertiary hydroperoxide in the presence of an enzyme catalyst. The acyl compound has the formula R.sup.1 [C(O)OR.sup.2 ].sub.n, wherein R.sup.1 is a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated C.sub.1 -C.sub.22 group, optionally containing one or more hetero atoms, R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or has the same meaning as described for R.sup.1, and n is 1-5, or a polyalcohol ester of R.sup.1 C(O)OH, wherein R.sup.1 has the same meaning as described above. The tertiary hydroperoxide has the formula [HOOCR.sup.3 R.sup.3 ].sub.m R.sup.4, wherein R.sup.3 represents either a methyl or an ethyl group, R.sup.4 has the same meaning as described for R.sup.1, and m is 1-5.

De uitvinding heeft op een proces voor de voorbereiding van een tertiaire perester betrekking door een acyl samenstelling met tertiaire hydroperoxide in aanwezigheid van een enzymkatalysator te contacteren. De acyl samenstelling heeft de formule R.sup.1 [ C(O)OR.sup.2 ].sub.n, waarin R.sup.1 lineair of vertakt, verzadigde of onverzadigde C.sub.1 - groep C.sub.22 is, naar keuze bevattend één of meerdere heteroatomen, R.sup.2 vertegenwoordigt waterstof of heeft de zelfde betekenis zoals die voor R.sup.1 wordt beschreven, en n is 1-5, of een polyalcoholester van R.sup.1 C(O)OH, waarin R.sup.1 de zelfde betekenis zoals hierboven beschreven heeft. Tertiaire hydroperoxide heeft de formule [ HOOCR.sup.3 R.sup.3 ].sub.m R.sup.4, waarin R.sup.3 of een methyl of ethylgroep vertegenwoordigt, R.sup.4 heeft de zelfde betekenis zoals die voor R.sup.1 wordt beschreven, en m is 1-5.
