The present invention provides a novel compound represented by the general formula I; ##STR1## wherein R is H or COR.sup.3 ; R.sup.1 is H, R.sub.2, phenyl, or COR.sup.3, wherein R.sup.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 lower alkyl and R.sup.3 is R.sup.2 or phenyl; Z is CH.sub.2 or O; Y is OH or OCOR.sup.3 ; x is 0 or 1; and X is C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 n-alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl, phenyl, furanyl, thienyl or substituted derivatives thereof, wherein the substituents maybe selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl, halogen, CF.sub.3, CN, NO.sub.2, NR.sup.4.sub.2, CO.sub.2 R.sup.4 and OR.sup.4 wherein R.sup.4 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl and dotted lines represent the presence or absence of a double bond and wavy lines represent a cis or trans bond. These novel compounds are especially useful for treating elevated intraocular pressure (ocular hypertension) and glaucoma.

Die anwesende Erfindung liefert ein Romanmittel, das durch die allgemeine Formel I dargestellt wird; ## STR1 ## worin R H oder COR.sup.3 ist; R.sup.1 ist H, R.sub.2, Phenyl oder COR.sup.3, worin R.sup.2 C.sub.1 ist - C.sub.5 senken Alkyl und R.sup.3 ist R.sup.2 oder Phenyl; Z ist CH.sub.2 oder O; Y ist OH- oder OCOR.sup.3; x ist 0 oder 1; und X ist C.sub.1 - C.sub.5 Nalkyl, C.sub.3 - C.sub.7 cycloalkyl, Phenyl, furanyl, thienyl, oder ersetzte Ableitungen davon, worin die Substituenten, die möglicherweise von der Gruppe besteht aus C.sub.1 vorgewählt werden - Alkyl C.sub.5, Halogen, CF.sub.3, CN, NO.sub.2, NR.sup.4.sub.2, CO.sub.2 R.sup.4 und OR.sup.4, worin R.sup.4 Wasserstoff oder C.sub.1 ist - Alkyl C.sub.5 und punktierte Linien das Vorhandensein oder das Fehlen einer Doppelbindung und wellenförmigen Linien darstellen, stellen eine diesseits oder Transport Bindung dar. Diese Romanmittel sind für das Behandeln des erhöhten intraocular Drucks (augenfälliger Bluthochdruck) und des Glaukoms besonders nützlich.
