A method for separating benzene from a hydrocarbon mixture containing benzene and at least one other organic material is carried out by treating the hydrocarbon mixture with at least one cyclodextrin to form complexes of the cyclodextrin with at least a portion of the benzene present in the hydrocarbon mixture. The cyclodextrin-benzene complexes then are separated from the hydrocarbon mixture.

Un método para separar el benceno de una mezcla del hidrocarburo que contiene el benceno y por lo menos un otro material orgánico es realizado tratando la mezcla del hidrocarburo con por lo menos un cyclodextrin para formar los complejos del cyclodextrin con por lo menos una porción del benceno presente en la mezcla del hidrocarburo. Los complejos del cyclodextrin-benceno entonces se separan de la mezcla del hidrocarburo.
